On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the Minister for Health, Mohammed Mchengerwa, officially inaugurated the second Board of Trustees of Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) in Dodoma, reaffirming the government’s ambition to elevate the 10-year-old facility into a fully fledged national hospital capable of delivering comprehensive specialised and super-specialised medical services.
Chaired by Prof. Edward Hosea, the newly constituted board brings together a wealth of expertise, including Prof. Lilian Teddy Msele, Dr. Bashiri Juma Nyangasa, Dr. Shakilu Jumanne Kayungo, Dr. Baraka Jeremiah Nzobo and Dr. Seif S. Rashid.
Speaking at the event, BMH’s Executive Director Prof. Abel Makubi expressed appreciation for the continued support of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, noting that sustained government investment has been instrumental in positioning BMH as an emerging regional hub for medical tourism.
