Dar es Salaam set to host major agribusiness expo

By Business Insider Reporter

For two days this September, Dar es Salaam will become the meeting point for Africa’s agricultural business community as thousands of farmers, investors, manufacturers and policymakers gather for what has grown into one of the continent’s largest agribusiness exhibitions.

The 10th Africa Agri Expo (AAE 2026), celebrating its Jubilee edition, will be held alongside the 3rd Future Food, Livestock & Poultry Expo (FLIP 2026) on September 2–3 at the Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds.

Together, the two events are expected to draw participants from 35 countries, underlining Tanzania’s growing profile as a gateway to East Africa’s expanding agricultural economy.

The timing is significant. Agriculture across Africa is undergoing rapid change, driven by rising food demand, investment in processing industries and growing interest in modern farming technologies.

Tanzania, where agriculture remains the country’s largest employer and a key contributor to export earnings, has become one of the markets attracting increasing attention from regional and international agribusiness investors.

Government efforts to modernise agriculture under Dira 2050, coupled with investments in transport, energy and logistics infrastructure, have strengthened the country’s appeal as a destination for agricultural investment.

Against that backdrop, AAE and FLIP arrive at a moment when businesses are looking beyond production and towards value addition, processing and regional trade.

Organisers expect more than 10,000 visitors, while over 1,000 companies involved in food, livestock and poultry will be represented through exhibitors and industry partners.

More than 125 exhibitors and sponsors, 750 conference delegates and 75 speakers are expected to take part in discussions on the future of agriculture across the continent.

For visitors, the attraction goes well beyond browsing exhibition stands.

Manufacturers will unveil the latest farm machinery, irrigation technologies, improved seed varieties, livestock equipment, feed solutions and food-processing systems, giving farmers and agribusiness operators an opportunity to compare technologies and suppliers in one place.

For distributors and dealers, the exhibition presents a chance to negotiate new supply agreements and secure partnerships with international manufacturers seeking to expand into African markets.

Alongside the exhibition, a conference programme will examine some of the biggest issues facing African agriculture, including agricultural finance, climate-smart farming, food security, livestock productivity, processing industries and regional trade opportunities.

For business leaders, it offers an opportunity to hear directly from policymakers, financiers and industry experts about where investment is heading and how the sector is evolving.

The exhibition also reflects the broader transformation taking place under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

As regional markets become more integrated, companies are increasingly looking for partners capable of serving multiple countries rather than individual markets.

With delegates expected from across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Dar es Salaam will offer businesses a rare opportunity to build relationships with investors, technology providers, suppliers and buyers without leaving the region.

The organisers are targeting a broad audience, from commercial farmers and food processors to livestock producers, distributors, financial institutions, government agencies, investors and agribusiness consultants.

For Tanzania, hosting the event reinforces its ambition to position itself as one of East Africa’s leading agribusiness and investment hubs. For companies attending, the exhibition offers something more practical: access to new technologies, fresh markets and business relationships that could influence their growth strategies for years to come. When the exhibition opens on September 2, the focus will not simply be on new machinery or product launches. It will be on deals, partnerships and investment – evidence that Africa’s agricultural future is increasingly being shaped in boardrooms as much as on the farm.
