Yas Tanzania took centre stage at the Tech & AI International Expo 2026 in Zanzibar on Tuesday, showcasing its technology, connectivity and digital solutions while highlighting a TSh300 billion investment to expand fibre connectivity to homes and businesses across the Isles.
Speaking during the high-profile technology and connectivity event on September 29, 2026, Yas Tanzania Chief Business Officer Norman Kiondo said the company would continue investing in resilient digital infrastructure and working with the Government and other stakeholders to accelerate the expansion and adoption of digital services.
Mr Kiondo told President Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi that Yas had invested more than TSh1.2 trillion in its network across Tanzania, supported by more than 4,900 network sites and over 5,700 kilometres of fibre infrastructure. President Mwinyi welcomed the investment and similar private-sector initiatives, while challenging the technology industry to move beyond expanding connectivity and ensure that digital infrastructure and innovation translate into measurable economic and social outcomes.
