Serengeti Lite partners with KUNTA Africa to find Tanzania’s next big star

Tanzania’s next singer, dancer, actor, comedian or creative star could be practising their talent in a bedroom, neighbourhood or small local stage without anyone knowing.

Nyota Bigi Season 2 is setting out to find them, with Serengeti Lite and KUNTA Africa expanding the talent search beyond Dar es Salaam to Mwanza, Arusha and Dodoma.

The second season of the talent platform will begin auditions in Dar es Salaam on October 3, followed by Mwanza on October 10, Arusha on October 17 and Dodoma on October 24.

“The expansion marks a significant step up from the first season, which focused on one region, and is designed to give more young Tanzanians an opportunity to put their creative abilities before a wider audience.” Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) said in a presser.

According to it, at least 24 contestants will make it through the auditions to the bootcamp stage, where they will continue competing for opportunities to develop their talent and connect with the wider creative industry.

Speaking at the Season 2 launch in Dar es Salaam on September 17, 2026, , SBL Director of Marketing and Innovation, Henry Esiaba, said the programme was created around the belief that talent is widely available but opportunities to showcase it are not.

“We know there is talent in every part of Tanzania. What is sometimes missing is the opportunity to be seen. Nyota Bigi gives young people that stage,” Mr Esiaba said.

He said the partnership with KUNTA Africa would continue to focus on identifying new talent, giving it exposure and supporting promising creatives.

For Serengeti Lite, the expansion also represents a broader rollout of its “Lite Your Imagination” platform, which encourages young adults to take their creativity seriously and explore how their abilities can translate into opportunities.

Serengeti Breweries Head of Beer and Ready to Drink Beverages Rhona Namanya said the second season would reach three additional locations compared with the previous edition.

“Season 2 is bigger and better, covering three more regions compared to the one region that we focused on last year,” Ms Namanya said, adding that the wider reach would strengthen the brand’s commitment to showcasing and developing Tanzania’s talent economy.

Nyota Bigi is open to Tanzanians aged 18 to 30. Applicants are required to have valid identification and submit a short video demonstrating their talent.

Registration is available through the Nyota Bigi QR code, website, WhatsApp and phone, while auditions will be conducted both physically and online.

SBL said that the opportunity extends beyond the competition itself. Participants can gain exposure and potential industry connections in areas including influencing, modelling, entertainment, talent management and music recording.

The platform is created and produced by KUNTA Africa and brings together different creative disciplines through television, radio, digital platforms and on-ground activities. For Serengeti Lite, the objective is to turn the idea of “Lite Your Imagination” into a practical pathway – giving young Tanzanians a platform to move from simply imagining what they can do to putting their talent before an audience and exploring opportunities in the creative economy.
