The Ocean Road Cancer Institute, ORCI, has continued to bring cancer screening services closer to communities by providing health education and medical tests to staff of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, as well as journalists in Dodoma.
The exercise was held last Saturday August 22, 2026 at the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports hall in Mtumba, Dodoma. It aimed to increase awareness about cancer and the importance of regular health check-ups.
During the event, ORCI specialists delivered education on cancer and offered screenings for various diseases. The initiative gave staff and journalists an opportunity to assess their health status and take early action where necessary.
Among the services provided were hepatitis tests and screenings for several cancers, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, and cervical cancer.

The rollout of these services continues to reinforce the message that health screening should not be done only after someone falls ill. It is a vital part of prevention and early detection of diseases.
For journalists, the exercise also provided access to accurate information from health experts – critical for communicating credible information to the public about cancer, its symptoms, the importance of screening, and early intervention measures. ORCI continues to emphasize the importance of citizens taking advantage of health screening opportunities to detect illnesses early. Detecting a condition at an early stage enables timely and appropriate medical treatment.
