The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) and insurance industry stakeholders have contributed TSh221 million to Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) to support bone marrow transplants for children with sickle cell disease and kidney transplants for patients in need. The contribution highlights the insurance sector’s role in mobilising private-sector resources to complement government efforts to improve healthcare access. BMH Executive Director Prof Abel Makubi said the funds would be used for the intended treatments, while TIRA pledged continued support for the initiative.
