History was made on May 6, 2026, when Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH), in partnership with University of Dodoma, organized Tanzania’s first international symposium on organ transplant services. Officiated by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Grace Magembe, the event brought together more than 150 local and international health experts to advance knowledge sharing in transplant medicine and specialized healthcare. BMH Executive Director Professor Abel Makubi said in his remarks that the hospital aims to strengthen specialized healthcare services while positioning Tanzania as a regional medical tourism hub.
