Tanzania’s drive to build a cash-lite and digitally empowered economy has gained fresh momentum following the official launch of Yas Business, a new enterprise-focused division unveiled by Yas Tanzania to accelerate digital transformation across key sectors of the national economy.

Unveiled on May 26, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, the new outfit consolidates the company’s enterprise connectivity and digital services under a unified business platform designed to support organisations seeking more secure, scalable and efficient digital operations.

The launch marks a strategic expansion of Yas Tanzania’s role in the country’s evolving digital ecosystem as the telecommunications company positions itself beyond traditional connectivity services into integrated enterprise technology, cloud infrastructure and digital transformation solutions.

According to the company, the new division is designed to serve a broad spectrum of clients, including large corporates, SMEs, government institutions and non-governmental organisations at a time when demand for advanced digital infrastructure continues to rise across the national economy.

“Yas Business brings together a comprehensive suite of solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency, strengthening connectivity and enabling organisations to scale through technology-driven innovation. The services include managed connectivity solutions, cloud and data services, Internet of Things (IoT) applications and advanced enterprise networking infrastructure,” the company said in a presser.

The move reflects a broader continental trend in which telecommunications operators are increasingly evolving into integrated digital solutions providers rather than remaining traditional network operators.

“The new platform is designed to “unlock more” opportunities for businesses across Tanzania through integrated digital solutions capable of improving competitiveness, productivity and long-term resilience,” Yas Tanzania further notes in the statement.

Speaking during the launch event, government and industry stakeholders underscored the growing importance of digital infrastructure in accelerating Tanzania’s industrialisation agenda and long-term socio-economic transformation goals.

The event was officiated by the Minister of State in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment, Prof Kitila Mkumbo, who said the initiative aligns strongly with the digital ambitions of Dira 2050, Tanzania’s new long-term national development vision.

“We are entering a new era of national development as implementation of Dira 2050 officially begins on July 1, 2026, and digital transformation will be one of the key pillars and enablers of achieving the vision’s aspirations,” Prof Mkumbo said.

“Mobile network operators and technology companies such as Yas Tanzania therefore have a critical role to play in expanding connectivity, supporting innovation, empowering enterprises and accelerating financial and digital inclusion,” he added.

According to the minister, a modern digital economy cannot be built without sustained investments in digital infrastructure, cloud technologies and enterprise solutions capable of enabling businesses and institutions to become more productive, competitive and globally connected.

Prof Mkumbo also stressed the importance of public-private sector collaboration in supporting national development priorities and delivering the aspirations of Dira 2050.

Led by Chief Executive Officer Pierre Canton-Bacara, Yas Tanzania leadership said the launch reflects the company’s long-term vision of becoming a trusted digital ally for businesses operating in an increasingly connected and data-driven economy.

“We are positioning Yas Business as a platform that supports organisations in their digital transformation journey by providing reliable, scalable and future-ready solutions,” said Canton-Bacara.

“This initiative reflects our ambition to become a digital ally and trusted transformation partner for Tanzanian businesses and institutions,” he added.

Other senior executives who addressed the event included Yas Business Chief Business Officer Norman Kiondo, Stellarix Chief Executive Officer Abdul-Rahman Ahmed and Chief Technology and Information Officer Emmanuel Mallya, all of whom highlighted the growing role of digital solutions in improving business competitiveness and operational resilience.

The launch comes amid aggressive investment by Yas Tanzania in network modernisation and nationwide expansion. The company said it has in four years invested more than TSh 1 trillion in infrastructure development, expanded its network footprint to more than 4,800 sites and now reaches over 95 percent of Tanzania’s population through its connectivity infrastructure. Analysts say the creation of Yas Business not only strengthens the company’s footprint in the enterprise solutions segment but also reinforces its broader ambition of supporting Tanzania’s digital economy and inclusive growth agenda.
