Early this month, the new Minister for Agriculture, Daniel Chongolo, embarked on a comprehensive working tour of Mtwara Region, engaging key players across Tanzania’s cashew nuts value chain as the Government steps up efforts to transform the sector into a high-value driver of growth. The tour included visits to the Cashew Board of Tanzania, cashew processing and research facilities, and the Port of Mtwara – through which most of the country’s cashew exports are shipped – underscoring the Sixth Phase Government’s resolve to strengthen production, value addition, trade logistics and farmer prosperity in the “golden nuts” industry.
