Tanzania is taking its investment proposition to London on October 8, seeking to position the country more strongly before global investors and connect international capital with opportunities that can support its long-term economic transformation under Dira 2050.
The Tanzania Investment Forum 2026 is being convened by the Tanzania High Commission in the UK, co-organised by NMB Bank and delivered in partnership with Invest Africa. The high-level forum is expected to bring together senior government leaders, investors, financial institutions and business executives.
The forum comes as Tanzania enters the implementation phase of Dira 2050, increasing the importance of mobilising private and international capital to finance the infrastructure, productive capacity and technological transformation required to achieve the country’s long-term development ambitions.
The event is expected to be led by Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, alongside ministers responsible for finance, planning and investment, minerals, industry and ICT.
Discussions will focus on critical minerals and mining, energy and renewables, infrastructure and logistics, agribusiness, manufacturing, ICT and the digital economy, financial services and tourism – sectors identified as having significant potential to drive investment and economic transformation.
Importantly, the forum is designed to go beyond conventional investment promotion. It will provide a platform for business-to-business and business-to-government engagements, deal origination, partnerships and the mobilisation of actual capital for investment opportunities in Tanzania.
For NMB, the forum provides an opportunity to play a strategic role in that process by connecting international investors with bankable opportunities in the country.
NMB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ruth Zaipuna is expected to lead the bank’s participation, with the lender positioning itself as a bridge between global capital and opportunities in sectors including infrastructure, energy, agribusiness, manufacturing, critical minerals and the digital economy.
Ms Zaipuna has highlighted Tanzania’s population of more than 65 million, its strategic position in East and Central Africa and its diverse resource base as factors supporting the country’s appeal to long-term investors.

NMB is attending the London forum with about TSh18 trillion in assets, nearly TSh13 trillion in customer deposits and more than 10 million customers. The bank also brings international capital-market experience, including through its Jamii Bond, part of which involved US$73 million being admitted to the London Stock Exchange. The London forum comes at a significant point in the country’s development trajectory. As Dira 2050 moves from vision to implementation, the ability to convert investment opportunities into partnerships, financing and actual projects will be critical to translating the country’s long-term ambitions into economic transformation.
