A defining moment for regional integration unfolded in Dar es Salaam on May 4–5, 2026, as President Samia Suluhu Hassan and President William Ruto jointly headlined the Tanzania–Kenya Business Forum 2026, signalling a renewed push to deepen economic ties between the East African Community’s two largest economies.
The forum brought together policymakers, investors, and private sector leaders around a shared objective: to unlock trade and investment flows, dismantle persistent non-tariff barriers, and accelerate cross-border value chains across priority sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, energy, and logistics. Key resolutions emerging from the engagements included firm commitments to harmonize regulatory frameworks, fast-track strategic infrastructure linkages, strengthen trade facilitation systems, and ease the movement of goods, services, and people. Central to the discussions was the pivotal role of the private sector, with strong emphasis on scaling joint ventures, industrial partnerships, and cross-border investments as engines of sustainable growth.
