The Minister for Finance, Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, has called on the leadership and staff of his ministry to continue working with diligence, professionalism, and integrity to safeguard and manage the nation’s economy effectively.
Dr. Nchemba issued the directive during a staff meeting held at the Dodoma City Conference Hall, located in the Government City of Mtumba.
The gathering offered ministry staff the opportunity to come together to reflect, share experiences, and align on key issues related to the implementation of the ministry’s responsibilities and broader government objectives.
He reminded staff that the Ministry of Finance is the “heartbeat” of government, warning that any instability within the ministry could have serious social and economic consequences for the country.
“We must use this meeting to address areas of challenge. No human being is perfect. If you see yourself as perfect, you risk defying God. We must accept the need for improvement in order to enhance our performance,” he emphasised.
Dr. Nchemba commended the staff for their professionalism and commitment, which have enabled the country to continue implementing development projects and withstand ongoing global economic challenges.
“You have been instrumental in enabling the nation to weather economic shocks under the strong leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan. Despite global turmoil, development projects continue to be implemented, and our economy remains resilient,” he added.
He also noted that the dedication of ministry staff has not only supported national progress but has also reflected positively on the leadership of both himself and his Deputy Minister, Hamad Hassan Chande.
The Minister affirmed that the government will continue to strengthen the capacity of ministry staff to enhance performance and ensure Tanzania achieves its development goals.

For his part, Permanent Secretary and Paymaster General, Dr. Natu El-maamry Mwamba, urged staff to improve efficiency in managing public revenue, expenditure, and assets to achieve the government’s objectives for the 2025/26 financial year.
“It is vital that we use our expertise and experience to enhance the implementation of financial policies, laws, regulations, and guidelines to ensure effective delivery of the ministry’s mandate,” she said.
She further reminded all staff to carry out their duties in line with approved plans and budgets as endorsed by Parliament, and to maintain confidentiality and safeguard official records.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Treasury Services, Ms Jenifa Christian Omolo, emphasised the need for love, unity, and solidarity in the workplace, along with the continued promotion of ethical conduct to achieve shared goals.
“None of us knows everything. We must support one another to succeed. No one can achieve success in isolation,” she said.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Economic Management, Mr Elijah Mwandumbya, praised staff for their dedication and teamwork, noting that they often work tirelessly to ensure the timely and successful implementation of government programmes.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Public Finance, Ms Amina Khamis Shaaban, stressed the importance of domestic revenue mobilisation to support national development efforts. She also encouraged staff to ensure the effective management of concessional loans to reduce dependency and build internal financial strength.
Ms Amina underscored the role of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in reducing reliance on external aid and called on ministry officials, especially those responsible for PPPs, to actively identify and manage such projects.
Progress on Development and Financial Monitoring
The Government Chief Accountant, CPA (T) Leonard Mkude, and Chief Internal Auditor, Mr Benjamin Magai, both praised the cooperation of staff, which has enabled the ministry to successfully fulfil its payment obligations and oversight responsibilities during the 2024/25 financial year.
They reported that various development projects were implemented and that monitoring and evaluation activities had been completed effectively.
Leaders at the meeting also urged ministry staff to maintain discipline, accountability, confidentiality, and protection of public assets, especially as the country approaches the General Elections. They encouraged full participation in the electoral process in a manner that supports the broader national interest.
