On Tuesday, Halotel Tanzania concluded its 10th-anniversary celebrations with a grand raffle, awarding a brand-new Subaru Forester XT to Simiyu resident Magdalena Nkuba.
This life-changing milestone was among the many remarkable moments celebrating a decade of Halotel’s presence in Tanzania, with the nationwide promotion drawing enthusiastic participation from subscribers across the country.
Senior company officials highlighted that the customer appreciation campaign reflected Halotel’s ongoing commitment to affordable connectivity, extensive network coverage, and inclusive digital access – especially in rural and underserved communities.
Symbolic prize
For Magdalena Nkuba, the win was more than just a prize – it was a life-changing moment, symbolising hope and opportunity for her and her family.
“I joined the promotion simply by using my Halotel line as usual. Winning this car will definitely change my life and strengthened my trust in the brand,” she said on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, after she was informed of her victory.
Speaking before the draw, the company’s head of Public Relations and Communications, Roxana Kadio, said Halotel will continue to ensure that every citizen access high-quality, affordable and widely available communication services.
Govt applauds Halotel’s US$1bn investment
Early last month, the Government congratulated Halotel on its 10-year journey and for investing more than US$1 billion in Tanzania’s telecommunications sector.
Speaking at the company’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam, Communications and Information Technology Minister Angellah Kairuki credited this investment with expanding digital inclusion and supporting socio-economic development across the country.
Her visit was part of the tour to meet with communication service providers in the country.
“Over the past decade, Halotel has played a meaningful role in connecting Tanzanians, especially in areas that were previously unserved or underserved,” the minister said on December 11, 2025.
“Such investments directly support national development priorities, including education, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and public service delivery.”
Celebrating customers

Halotel’s management said the 10th anniversary celebrations were designed to recognize customers as the true drivers of the company’s success.
“Our journey over the past 10 years has been shaped by the trust of millions of Tanzanians,” Managing Director Bui Van Thang told Minister Kairuki.
“This anniversary was also about giving back, strengthening relationships, and reaffirming our commitment to delivering affordable, reliable, and innovative connectivity solutions,” he said.
As Halotel enters its next decade in Tanzania, the Subaru Forester XT win symbolizes more than celebration – it reflects a shared journey of connection, opportunity, and national progress, with customers firmly at the centre of the company’s growth story.
Fast growth, strong reach
Halotel launched officially on October 15, 2015 as the first operator allowed to build its own fibre-optic infrastructure. That decision proved pivotal.
With a modern network beneath the ground and thousands of towers above it, Halotel quickly gave millions of Tanzanians reliable access to communication and digital services. Growth came swiftly. Within months of launching, Halotel reached one million subscribers – doubling the number in less than a year. By 2017, the customer base had grown to 3.8 million, and today TCRA figures show that the mobile network operator serves some 16.5 million Tanzanians.
