The Ministry of Energy and the National Planning Commission will strengthen collaboration in supervising energy projects aligned with Vision 2050 goals.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, met with experts from the National Planning Commission, led by the Deputy Executive Secretary for Performance Management and Evaluation, Dr. Linda Ezekiel, to discuss how the Ministry and its agencies have positioned themselves to implement strategic energy projects that contribute to the achievement of Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050.
The meeting was anchored on the recognition of the energy sector as one of the five key catalysts for accelerating the attainment of Dira 2050 objectives.
The Vision highlights reliable energy as an essential enabler for industrial development and various economic activities, aimed at improving living standards and creating sustainable employment opportunities across society.
During the meeting, held in Dodoma and attended by officials from institutions under the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Mramba emphasised that both parties are committed to enhancing coordination in the implementation of energy projects to ensure alignment with national development priorities.
“The Ministry of Energy continues to execute major energy projects, including the 400 kV Chalinze–Dodoma power transmission project, which is expected to be completed by June 2026. This is one of the projects that will play a crucial role in strengthening the availability of reliable electricity in regions such as Katavi, Kigoma, and other areas that have faced challenges in accessing stable power,” said Engineer Mramba.
He added that the completion of strategic power projects will help realise one of the key targets of Dira 2050 – increasing electricity consumption to an average of 3,000 kWh per person per year.
“We aim to build a nation with reliable, affordable, and clean energy for all Tanzanians. To achieve this goal, the Government welcomes private sector participation in energy investments, as the success of this sector depends on collective efforts,” Engineer Mramba stressed.
During the session, the Ministry also presented reports on the implementation of projects in Natural Gas and Petroleum, Clean Cooking Energy, Electricity, and Renewable Energy.

For her part, Dr Linda Ezekiel of the National Planning Commission commended the strong collaboration between the Commission and the Ministry of Energy, noting that the direction of the projects discussed aligns with the objectives of Dira 2050.
She affirmed that the Commission will continue to monitor the implementation of these projects to ensure they contribute directly to national economic growth, improved citizens’ welfare, and environmental sustainability.
“Dira 2050 aspires to build a modern, competitive, and inclusive economy. The energy sector is central to achieving all these goals, and we commend the Ministry of Energy for its dedication in ensuring that energy becomes the driving force of Tanzania’s development,” said Dr Ezekiel. Through this session, the Ministry of Energy and the National Planning Commission agreed to continue working closely in planning, implementing, and monitoring all projects related to the energy sector to ensure Tanzania effectively achieves the goals of the National Development Vision 2050.
