The performance of the Ministry of Energy and its institutions has continued to improve, reaching 96.16 per cent in the fourth quarter of the 2024/2025 financial year, up from 95 per cent in the previous quarter.
This was revealed during the fifth performance review meeting of the Ministry and its agencies, held in Dodoma and chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba.
According to the evaluation conducted by the Ministry’s Monitoring and Evaluation Unit, the progress reflects significant improvements in project implementation and service delivery to the public.
“These reviews reflect what we are implementing. Services have continued to improve and strengthen, and as a Ministry we remain committed to ensuring quality delivery to citizens,” Eng. Mramba said.
He commended the institutions under the Ministry for sustaining reforms and praised the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) for timely communication with citizens, which he said has contributed to better service delivery.
Eng. Mramba also underscored the importance of using social media platforms to promote the adoption of clean cooking energy, particularly energy-efficient electric stoves, in support of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision of transitioning households from unsafe fuels to cleaner alternatives.
The review further recognised the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit for its effective oversight, with Mramba urging full cooperation from departments, units, and institutions to ensure timely reporting of performance data.
Deputy Permanent Secretary, Dr James Mataragio, also applauded the Ministry’s departments and agencies for their positive results, which he said reflected steady improvements across the energy sector.

Presenting the report, the Director of the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit, Ms. Anita Ishengoma, noted that since the review exercises began, they have significantly boosted institutional efficiency and planning.
In the ranking, the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy topped performance among Ministry units, followed by the Procurement Unit and the ICT Unit.
Among institutions, Tanesco ranked first, followed by the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) and the Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA).
At regional level, Tanesco offices in Manyara, Kinondoni South, and Simiyu were recognised as top performers. Notably, no regional office scored below 91.83 percent. The meeting was attended by heads of institutions under the Ministry, directors of monitoring and evaluation units from various government bodies, senior officials of the Ministry of Energy, and Tanesco regional managers.
